Radon basics
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that comes from the breakdown of uranium in soil and rock. It can enter buildings from the ground beneath them.
Testing process
A testing device is placed in a suitable lower-level location for a set period. The device is then analyzed to estimate the radon concentration during that period.
Real-estate transactions
As early in the inspection period as reasonably possible so results arrive before deadlines.
Results
A result is an estimate of the radon concentration during the test period in the location where the device was placed. See our Understanding Radon Results page for more.
Post-mitigation
It is an independent test performed after a mitigation system has been running for a recommended startup period, to confirm the system is doing its job.
